He has a doctorate in Computer Science and a Master Degree in Applied Physics from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). His current research interests include statistical laws of language (Zipf’s law for word frequencies, Zipf’s law of abbreviation, Menzerath’s law, Zipf’s law of meaning distribution,… ), word order (the scarcity of crossings dependencies, word order correlations, principles of word order variation,… ), language evolution (language change and child language), animal communication (across species and modalities) and genomes (DNA sequences).

Her current research interests include language evolution and automatic feature selection for NLP tasks. She is currently working on medical document anonymization.
He has a degree in physics, a degree in linguistics and received his doctorate in Linguistics from Universitat de Barcelona (UB). His recent publications include The Info chemical Core (Journal of Quantitative Linguistics, 2016) and Emergence of Linguistic Laws in Human Voice (Scientific Reports, 2017). His current research interests comprise the study of general patterns in communication systems and Quantitative Linguistics. He is also an expert in Science Education and co-authored more than 30 books of science for secondary school.
He has a PhD in Physics of Complex Systems and BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). His core interest lies in the study of adaptive complex systems and emergence of complex behavior. His current research focuses on the characterization of human voice and statistical patterns on language. In addition to his background on quantitative linguistics, on complex networks and multifractal analysis in images, he has also worked as data scientist for industry.
He holds a Bs.C. and a Ms.C. in Computer Science from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC). His Ph.D. thesis is on the development of optimization algorithms applied to Quantitative Dependency Syntax.
His Ph.D. thesis in progress is on the evolution of language in children, the statistical laws of language and the application of computational models to language acquisition. His recent publications include The evolution of language in children (Evolang, 2014) and Testing the Robustness of Laws of Polysemy and Brevity Versus Frequency (SLSP, Springer, 2016).
